Full-Time Lead Teacher
The Ethel Streit School, a new and innovative microschool in Cincinnati, is currently seeking a full-time lead teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The Ethel Streit Adventure School is an exciting new independent all-girls program in the Cincinnati area. We will open our doors in September 2017 for a small group of 9-13 year-olds, and we are looking for like-minded individuals to help build and grow our educational community.

Mission:

We create a real-world, interdisciplinary context that fosters joyful exploration and develops students’ natural curiosity, personal interests, and individual potential. Ethel Streit graduates are critical thinkers, problem solvers, and compassionate and dynamic citizens. Ethel Streit is a place where a community of good friends and good citizens can develop and thrive with the support of fun, creative, passionate and supportive professionals.

Responsibilities:
In addition to traditional teaching responsibilities, teachers at The Ethel Streit Adventure School will have a high level of responsibility for the creation of the curriculum of the school. We envision teachers at the school being mentors and coaches in academic, social and emotional areas. The teachers will work with a variety of professionals to support and develop plans for student success. Teachers will also work closely and collaboratively with parents to determine the best approach for each child.

  • Highly energetic, highly motivated individuals with the requisite entrepreneurial spirit for a start-up school
  • A sense of humor, an optimistic outlook, a love of kids, an open mind, and a desire to make a difference in an innovative start-up school
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and flexible environment
  • Experience with project-based, thematic, and integrated learning
  • Experience with a wide variety of assessment approaches
  • An ability to discern students strengths and challenges; to build on strengths and to support challenges, to help move students toward thoughtful self-determination
  • Special education/LD background strongly preferred, flexibility and creativity required
  • Interest in social/emotional learning as an important part of daily classroom life
  • Bachelors degree required, graduate degree preferred
