The Ethel Streit School
About Our Space
The physical space in which our students spend their day is an integral part of the curriculum at Ethel Streit. We are excited to announce that our educational home for the 2016-2017 academic year will remain the first floor of the E.T. Carson Masonic Lodge, located in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati.

Human beings, especially those with any type of sensory integration differences, are strongly affected by the way things look and feel, and we intend for our spaces to feel like a second home to both our students and teachers. The school is uncluttered, uses natural lighting and materials whenever possible, and provides spaces where children can feel comfortable, relaxed and at ease. There is equipment present and accessible to support multisensory integration, such as large pillows, stools that allow for movement, fidgets, and weighted blankets.

Movement, both inside and out of the classroom, is an essential part of learning for many students with learning differences. Our environment will allow for a personalized, multi-sensory approach to activity and movement. Several experiments, explorations, and expeditions might be taking place simultaneously - with some students working collaboratively around a large table on a science project, while another reads and reflects quietly in an overstuffed chair.
